  • This is cool weird ink, “Gentle Green” from Teranishi. It reminds me a lot of Taccia Sabimidori but more green, it’s great. It starts off a bright blue that turns green with red sheen as it dries. 🖋

  • I spent an evening mixing a rainbow of colors with the Everlasting Atomink Element Bundle of water-resistant fountain pen inks from Birmingham Pens. These are pretty cool, next I want to try to mix up my favorite green and put it in a Platinum Preppy to test how it writes. 🖋

  • Despite an unexpected early morning, I enjoyed the cooler morning weather with an open window while “hanging out” with the Pen Addict podcast for this Lego build before work. Great chill vibes with this gorgeous set, and I’ve even got extra pieces on the way for future customizations.

A completed Lego Orchid plant build with six large white and pink blooms, several more buds along the stems, and large dark green leaves, all set in a smal blue-gray Lego planter with brown pieces representing dirt and mulch.

  • The annual tradition begins–building a Lego set with audio instructions only! It’s not my first time building this particular set, but we’ll see how it goes positioning everything into organic shapes without a visual reference.

  • Swatching the new Reddit-voted Diamine inks: Sailor’s Warning and Celadon Cat

They look surprisingly good together on the “Mystic Mountain” printed ColorVerse swatch card. 🖊

  • Trying out some new swatch cards by ColorVerse. They may be a fad, but it’s still very satisfying to see the design appear amid the shading of an interesting ink.

  • My “pick-a-brick” parts order came yesterday! The color choices for some pieces were limited but I’m feeling pretty good about how the “olive octopus” is looking. The second photo is the original colors (and bonus cat).

  • I finally finished the col-o-dex cards for the Sailor Yurameku (2nd edition) inks. I tried to challenge myself a little more with the sketches for these, to varying degrees of success, but it’s all good practice. 🖋

5 col-o-dex cards for Sailor Yurameku inks. Zaregokoro features fashion sketches of a coat, pants, necklace. Dategokoro features the edge and footlights of a stage. Hanagokoro features flowers. • ColorVerse Project No. 013 α UMa & The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab 🖋

This ink, named after the brightest star in a well-known constellation, that starts off gray then develops into a bright spring green with violet along the edges as it dries, felt like a good fit for Addie.

  • Wearingeul I am a Cat is full of shimmer, while The Autumn Night after a Thousand Years has subtle shimmer with a gorgeous dark green. TACCIA Sabimidori is so cool, there are similar dark teals but there’s a depth of blue here, similar to the blue in Sailor Sukigokoro compared to Shirakashi. 🖋

  • I love many Architecture & Ideas Lego sets, but the newer Botanical line is delightful to build and display. It’s interesting to see car hoods, oars, even frogs transformed into flowers. Finding pieces to add fall and winter looks to the Bonsai was fun, I love seeing all four together.

2 built Lego Bonsai sets with fall leaves and icy winter branches respectively, displayed alongside the original green branches and spring cherry blossom versions.

  • An ad for the Tetris movie reminded me I had been gifted this graphic novel, Tetris. I read it today, it’s an interesting story with a clever illustration style. I appreciated the inclusion of some history and role of games in general, since games have always been a significant part of my life.

  • I tested out a Warren “one cent pen” from the 1890s that I picked up at the Atlanta Pen Show with Colorverse Project No. 013 α UMa ink. The nib flexes easily, has some scratchy feedback, and writes consistently. I love the green tone and dark edges of this Colorverse ink too. 🖋
